8th SEPTEMBER 2015 AJA EKADASHI - ADVENT KALKI BHAGWAN ( INCARNATION LORD VISHNU )
Aja - Annada Ekadasi
Aja - Annada Ekadasi Sri Yudhisthira Maharaja said, "Oh Janardana, protector of all living entities, please tell me the name of the Ekadasi that occurs during the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada (August-September)." The Supreme Lord, Sri Krishna, then replied, "Oh King, hear Me attentively. The name of this sin-removing, sacred Ekadasi is Aja. Any person who fasts completely on this day and worships Hrishikesha, the master of the senses, becomes free of all reactions to his sins. Even one who simply hears about this Ekadasi is freed from his past sins. Oh King, there is no better day than this in all the earthly and heavenly worlds. This is true without a doubt. "There once lived a famous king named Harishchandra, who was the emperor of the world and a person of great truth and integrity. His wife's name was Chandramati, and he had a son named Lohitashva. By the force of destiny, however, Harishchandra lost his great kingdom and sold his wife and son. The pious king himself became a menial servant of a dog-eater, who made him guard a crematorium. Yet even while doing such menial service, he did not forsake his truthfulness and good character, just as soma-rasa, even when mixed with some other liquid, does not lose its ability to bestow immortality. "The king passed many years in this condition. Then one day he sadly thought, 'What shall I do? Where shall I go? How can I be delivered from this plight?' In this way he drowned in an ocean of anxiety and sorrow. "One day a great sage happened by, and when the king saw him he happily thought, 'Ah, Lord Brahma has created brahmins just to help others.' Harishchandra paid his respectful obeisances to the sage, whose name was Gautama Muni. With joined palms the king stood before Gautama Muni and narrated his pitiful story. Gautama Muni was astonished to hear the king's tale of woe. He thought, 'How has this mighty king been reduced to collecting clothes from the dead?' Gautama Muni became very much compassionate toward Harishchandra and instructed him on the process of fasting for purification. "Gautama Muni said, 'Oh king, during the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada there occurs an especially meritorious Ekadasi named Aja (Annada), which removes all sins. Indeed, this Ekadasi is so auspicious that if you simply fast on that day and perform no other austerity, all your sins will be nullified. By your good fortune it is coming in just seven days. So I urge you to fast on this day and remain awake through the night. If you do so, all the reactions of your past sins will come to an end. Oh Harishchandra, I have come here because of your past pious deeds. Now, all good fortune to you in the future!' So saying, the great sage Sri Gautama Muni immediately disappeared from his vision. "King Harishchandra followed Gautama Muni's instructions concerning fasting on the sacred day of Aja Ekadasi. Oh Maharaja Yudhisthira, because the king fasted on that day, the reactions to his previous sins were completely destroyed at once. Oh lion among kings, just see the influence of this Ekadasi fast! It immediately vanquishes whatever miseries one may be suffering as a result of past karmic sinful activities. Thus all Harishchandra's miseries were relieved. Just by the power of this wonderful Ekadasi, he was reunited with his wife and son, who had died but were now revived. In the heavenly regions the devas (demigods) began beating on their celestial kettledrums and showering down flowers upon Harishchandra, his queen, and their son. By the blessings of the Ekadasi fast, he regained his kingdom without difficulty. Moreover, when King Harishchandra left the planet, his relatives and all his subjects too, went with him to the spiritual world. "Oh Pandava, whoever fasts on Aja Ekadasi is surely freed from all his sins and ascends to the spiritual world. And whosoever hears and studies the glories of this Ekadasi achieves the merit gained by performing a horse sacrifice." Thus ends the narration of the glories of Bhadrapada-krishna Ekadasi, or Aja Ekadasi, from the Brahma-vaivarta Purana.
Aja Ekadashi 2015 - September 8 (Tuesday)
As “Ekadashi” refers to the eleventh day of a lunar fortnight, there are two Ekadashis- one during the waning and the other during the waxing period. Aja Ekadashi is also popularly known as Annada Ekadashi. It is an important day which falls in the month of Bhadra (August-September) as per the Hindu Calendar.
The day is extremely spiritual in nature and emphasizes on control over the needs of one’s body, emotions and hunger. The fast is believed to purify one’s soul by virtue of which a person can attain salvation. It is held in high regard by devotees of Lord Vishnu all across the country. The celebration of Aja Ekadashi involves observation of a fast which is believed to result in the washing away of all the sins committed by the devotee.

Aja Ekadashi Rituals and Customs
However, the fast observed needs to comply with strict standards. Grains, honey and cereals amongst others are prohibited from being consumed. Intake of water is optional but has to be decided with finality before the fast is started. Some devotees fast for over three days. They take a single meal in the afternoon a day before the Ekadashi day. This is done in order to ensure that no residual food remains in the stomach. An austere fast is observed on Ekadashi and the fast is broken after sunrise the next day. However, some people fast only for a day while others fast for two as per their own rituals.
On the day of Ekadashi, the devotee has to wake up early and clean his house. Sesame seeds and mud are used during the bath which is followed by praying to Lord Vishnu. The prayer is accompanied by keeping a kalash on some rice in an auspicious place. The kalash is then covered with a red cloth. This exercise is undertaken by them in anticipation of the belief that the Lord will be pleased by their religious zeal and hence he will bestow his love and affection on his devotees, and eradicate them of their past sins.

Legend behind Aja Ekadashi
Legend says that Raja Harishchandra was the one to popularise this day. His courage, integrity and honesty were undisputed and provided motivation to one and all. Due to his honesty, one day he lost his vast empire and his family including his wife and son, and for years guarded a crematorium like a servant. He was disheartened by his state of affairs until a sage passing by saw his condition and sympathised with him. The sage recommended him to observe the fast on Aja Ekadashi and Harishchandra complied. He was indeed eradicated of his past sins as he gradually regained his empire and was reunited with his family.
Since then, this sacred occasion of Aja Ekadashi is marked by celebrations in various parts of India, by observing a strict fast in order to be purified of their past sins.

Bhagavan Kalki sri kalki bhagwanBhagavan Kalki... the showman of the era is expected shortly. One with almost equivalent powers of Lord Krishna... Bhagwan Kalki would be the most revered person on Mother Earth in the near future. It would be beyond the capacity of a normal human being to assess and understand the phenomenon that would be termed as Bhagavan Kalki. In the present Kali Yuga of today (aka the metal age)... the advent of Bhagavan Kalki is awaited with abated breath. Bhagwan Kalki would be the one who delivers the mankind from the ills of today. A one-man phenomenon... Kalki Bhagavan shall take the entire community of the world... the 6000 million people by storm. Bhagavan Kalki shall wield that power and influence which shall make even the most powerful scouring for hidden pastures. Bhagwan Kalki would stand for truthfulness and justice. For Kalki Bhagavan maintaining the Dharma and bringing about the end of Kali Yuga would be the most formidable task. Bhagavan Kalki would have a following of about 1000 million people. There is no extent to which these 1000 million people would be willing to go for they have placed their firm faith in Bhagwan Kalki. They are the blind followers of Kalki Bhagavan. Apart from these 1000 million people Kalki Bhagwan would further had a following of further 1000 million people. To bring about the end of an era... jolt back the society back on its firm roots... starting the Satyuga are some of the tasks that Bhagavan Kalki would have assigned to himself. The deliverer of the Yuga of Kali... Bhagwan Kalkin bearing almost same powers as Lord Krishna would be the most feared avatar the mankind has ever witnessed. It is almost 3600 years since the advent of Lord Krishna on Mother Earth that a person of the stature of kalki bhagavan arrives on the scene. It was during the times of Lord Krishna the values in the society had completely crumbled and broken down. It was not possible for a human being nay even man gods for that matter... to restore the values in the society. Adharma was prevalent everywhere. The society could not have survived for long. Someone with supernatural powers... an avatar (manifest God himself) of the era was required. Lord Krishna finally came on the scene. Not only was Lord Krishna able to bring justice to the society... he was able to firmly establish Dharma. Now time has come for history to repeat itself. When the ball goes rolling few steps down after bouncing back again and again it becomes flat. Someone with the powers of an avatar who shall be able to lift this ball and throw it again is required. It shall be a superhuman feat. Even man gods like Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed would fail in that matter. The job of an avatar can only be done by the likes of Lord Krishna or Bhagavan Kalki. It is this typical manifest stage in life when we shall all witness the advent of Bhagwan Kalki. The end of the present Kali Yuga would entail great sacrifice. Sacrifices from those who have a list of crimes attached with their name and also those who are absolutely innocent! Unless and until the blood of the innocent is spilt... the war of Dharma would not have been won.Kalki Bhagavan is expected to be the cause of 5.5 million deaths initiated on his own. Only then the society be wiped clean of all the ills existing today. The present Kali Yuga would end with a fierce battle between the Christianity and the proponents of Islamic Dharma. A fight to the finish between these two communities would result in the whole world engaging in World War Three. The result... almost 1200 million deaths... something inconceivable in the present circumstances! Bhagavan Kalki would not be an arrogant. On the contrary he would be one from the masses. A commoner who as luck would have it become Bhagwan Kalki... the most powerful one! He would be one who represents truthfulness and justice. His parameters of working would remain confined to the sacred Bhagavad Gita alone. To precipitate a war between Dharma and adharma and come out of it unscathed would be the mettle displayed by kalki bhagavan all along. Nostradamus has predicted that the blue turbaned one would be Bhagavan Kalki of the present era. He was right for the Indian Peninsula surrounded by water on two sides is just what Nostradamus was trying to indicate. Lord Krishna came from India. Followed him Mahavira and Gautama Buddha... both of whom belonged to India! Then appeared Jesus Christ... who gained his wisdom from the famous universities of Nalanda and Taxila which lay in India then! Prophet Mohammed also belonged to a region which was at a time part of older India. All the spiritual behemoths were from India... so shall Bhagvan Kalkin be! India at large has been the spiritual centre of the world and it shall always be! This region of the world known as India is directly blessed by God. It is only the patience and persistence practiced by Indians that makes it the spiritual behemoth it is today. Let us all await the advent of kalki bhagavan for the betterment of the society. Be it kalki bhagavan avatar of vishnu, sri bhagavan... everything bogs down to... whether or not we see kalkin bhagvan in our life time!

2015 Aja Ekadashi
Parana means breaking the fast. Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on next day of Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence.
Parana should not be done during Hari Vasara. One should wait for Hari Vasara to get over before breaking the fast. Hari Vasara is first one fourth duration of Dwadashi Tithi. The most preferred time to break the fast is Pratahkal. One should avoid breaking the fast during Madhyahna. If due to some reasons one is not able to break the fast during Pratahkal then one should do it after Madhyahna.
At times Ekadashi fasting is suggested on two consecutive days. It is advised that Smartha with family should observe fasting on first day only. The alternate Ekadashi fasting, which is the second one, is suggested for Sanyasis, widows and for those who want Moksha. When alternate Ekadashi fasting is suggested for Smartha it coincides with Vaishnava Ekadashi fasting day.
Ekadashi fasting on both days is suggested for staunch devotees who seek for love and affection of Lord Vishnu.
