Jyaishta masam is third and one of the important month in the Lunar Hindu calender. This month belongs to Lord Brahma. Jyeshta month marks the beginning of Greeshma Ritu.
This year Jyesta month starts on 5th May 2015 and ends 3rd June 2015 in purnimant calenders. Narada Jayanti, Apara Ekadashi, Vat Savitri Vrat, Shani Jayanti, Ganga Dussehra, Nirjala Ekadashi and Vat Purnima Vrat are the major festivals in this month.
In Amavasyant Calenders Jyesta month falls between 19th May 2015 and 17th June 2015. Ganga Dussehra, Nirjala Ekadashi, Vat Purnima Vrat and Yogini Ekadashi are the major festivals in this month.
Purnima (full Moon day) during Jyeshta month is called as Jyeshta Purnima. Few devotees observe Dasa Paapa Hara Vratham during this month. Donating water (Udak Kumbh daan), Chappals (Paada raksha), umbrella (Chatthri), Hand fan, Tila and Chandana considered auspicious during Jyesta masam.
Jyeshta Mahina is the third month in a traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in North India . Jyeshta Mahina 2015 is from May 5 to June 2. This calendar is followed mainly in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar and Chhattisgarh and other North India states. A month is calculated from the day after Purnima or full moon to the next Purnima. The year in the Hindi Calendar is Saka 2072.
